| dc.description.abstract | This thesis explores the topic of comparative religion especially in regard to the prevalent argument that Christ and the account of him which the New Testament gives is in part borrowed from other figures in ancient myth and religion. In the first part of the thesis the general issues one must consider in comparative religious studies is addressed; in the second part a special focus will be given to considering the similarities and differences between Christ and the Isis/Osiris/Horus myth from ancient Egypt. The thesis shows how the gospel of Jesus Christ is in its essence unique, i.e. in Christ’s person, the purpose of his work, and the results of his work. | en_US |
