Changing Media and the Changeless Message: Sharing the Gospel Through New Media
Abstract
For longer than we may realize, technology has been involved in the transmission of God’s Word. Early Christin communities were united through a piece of technology—a book. During the Reformation, Luther and the other reformers used the printing press to spread their ideas across Europe. What about today? How can congregations effectively use the resources and technology that are available to them to share the gospel? This thesis seeks to explore how congregations and individuals might use “new media” as they carry out the mission to make disciples of all nations. The thesis starts by looking at the early uses of technology in the church. Following that it will look at the unique place the Lutheran church has in the realm of technology and how it can best be used today.
