Educational debt is now a burden that the majority of students who have graduated from Martin Luther College are going into the ministry burdened with. Students are seeing record-high amounts of educational debt that they will try to pay as they start out their lives. Year after year, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod has recognized this problem. Year after year, the problem has only gotten worse. There does not seem to be an end to the consistent increases in the cost of attending MLC, nor the amount of loans students will need to pay that cost. Increased amounts of debt will have a profound impact on graduates. We need to strive to understand how this problem arose and the many factors that are involved. Then there may be a chance at looking to move in the right direction in the future.en_US
