What Practical Experience Teaches Us about Lutheran Schools
Abstract
At the core of a Lutheran day school is the Gospel message, which brought salvation and established the mission work for the church. However, as WELS schools face declining enrolment in an ever-changing culture, we must realize this reality and work on the personnel, educational program, and school advancement aspects. Schools require staff members (pastors, principals, and teachers) along with the school board to have a united mindset in proclaiming the Gospel to students and their parents through the means of the school. To fulfill this end, WELS schools need to provide the best education, extra-curricular activities, and facilities possible to engage a society saturated with education options. The school also needs to establish a plan to actively engage its community to present that value in Christian education and sustainable funding models for the future. This practical advice embodies our work as Christians who mindfully steward God's gifts and go out into the world to make disciples of all nations.
