dc.description.abstract"Over the last century, Eastside has seen significant spiritual, physical, and numerical growth. This paper reflects on the Lord’s undeserved grace, beginning with the rapid population expansion on Madison’s east side that necessitated the church’s founding. It highlights the faithful Gospel ministry of the pastors and teachers who led the congregation through the challenges of the Great Depression and shifts in the city’s landscape. It details the physical development of the church and school, including the initial chapel on East Mifflin and North Streets, the bold relocation to Independence Lane in the 1960s, and the subsequent building expansions required to house a flourishing ministry. The history also explores the unique era of Madison Lutheran School, a joint educational effort between local congregations, and the eventual re-establishment of Eastside’s own school, which continues to provide a Christ-centered education today. Finally, the paper examines the vibrant church programs, from the long-standing Eastside Christian Women to innovative outreach efforts like Soccer Bible Camp and Science Camp, that have fostered community and shared the Gospel with the Madison area. While modern statistics might suggest a numerical decline, this thesis argues that the true measure of Eastside’s growth is found in the proclamation of the Gospel and the persistent growth of its members in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ."en_US
