The current discourse surrounding re-enchantment presents a unique opportunity for Christian witnessing in the modern era. However, before this newfound opportunity can be taken, it is important for us to understand where Confessional Lutheran theology fits within the context of the broader push for re-enchantment. This thesis seeks address that question. The question is first addressed by contrasting the current “disenchanted” worldview with the “enchanted” worldview of the pre-modern man to provide a framework from which a critique of scientific naturalism is built. This establishes why re-enchantment is necessary. From there, the broader purpose of re-enchantment is defined, and several contemporary attempts at re-enchantment from broader Christianity are summarized. Finally, Confessional Lutheran theology’s place within the context of re-enchantment is proposed based primarily on the hiddenness of God in the theology of the cross. en_US
